Henley Engineers – a case study
Henley Engineers is a Warwickshire SME business which engaged Inspiring Group to strengthen its supply chain to help with ambitious growth plans. They are a long-established family manufacturer, supporting clients in markets such as commercial automotive.
Led by our team member Victoria Priscott, we classified their product and service expenditure by importance, allowing us to pinpoint supply chain weaknesses, reduce disruptions, support growth strategy, and identify where money could be saved.
Key workstreams included: –
➡️ Metal sheets – Introduced new suppliers to widen the supply base and reduce risk.
➡️ CNC machine – Sourced and negotiated commercials and T&Cs for a new CNC machine.
➡️ Tooling cupboard – Introduced a supplier managed tooling cupboard with consignment stock.
➡️ ERP system – Negotiated pricing and contract with a new supplier.
➡️ Energy – Negotiated a new supply contract.
➡️ Scrap metal – Evaluated and sourced a new scrap metal merchant.
Positive outcomes achieved were: –
✅ Extended payment terms with strategic suppliers therefore improving cash flow.
✅ Developed a new set of purchase terms and conditions to better protect Henley Engineers.
✅ Delivered strong annualised purchase savings across multiple categories, both direct and indirect, without disrupting ongoing operations.
✅ Freed up the Henley Engineers team to focus on operational priorities and growth initiatives.
Feedback from the Henley Engineers management team: –
“Inspiring Group took the time to fully understand our requirements, quickly applied a hands-on approach, and started to deliver impressive savings early on. Their work has enabled us to widen and strengthen our supply chain to support business growth.”
Many thanks to the Henley Engineers senior management, and the wider team, for placing their trust in Inspiring Group.
